R U OK Day

R U OK? Day is a national day of action held annually to encourage and empower all people to regularly and meaningfully ask ‘are you ok?’ to support those struggling with life. On this day, it’s important that schools promote meaningful conversations and ongoing support.

This year, Siena students acknowledged this day by having a Big Sister Little Sister shared lunch. This was a time for conversation and catch ups between different groups of students and an opportunity to check in with one another at a busy time of the school year. Asking someone if they’re ok can help them cope with stressful times, such as exam periods or when school work is building up. Demonstrating effective listening skills can help friends feel valued, supported and connected.
