Career News

Year 12s are currently completing their VTAC preferences and making important decisions regarding tertiary courses and future careers.  I have been meeting with our final year students to assist with SEAS (Special Consideration) and scholarship applications.  Each year we have a number of students who apply for interstate courses and some even overseas.  It is important to plan ahead for overseas applications and weigh up the benefits of studying overseas compared with studying a course at one of our local institutions.

A great option for students who are interested in studying abroad is to incorporate a semester or two overseas as part of their local university course.  All of our local institutions offer study abroad programs and these are detailed in the current edition of the Siena Career News.  Many universities offer scholarships to assist with the cost of studying abroad, so it can be more cost effective than studying an entire degree overseas.

This week’s Siena Career news includes details of school holiday information sessions on a very popular area of study, Psychology and Criminology.  These sessions are being run by the Australian College of Applied Psychology and will be of interest to any students who are curious about the sorts of occupations you can enter after studying these courses.

Another popular area of study for many Siena students is Performing Arts.  Federation University has launched a suite of programs that will be attractive to students who want to pursue a career on the stage or screen.  Details of these courses are also in the latest Siena Career News.

Careers in Health Science are always of interest to Siena students. Detailed in this week’s Siena Career News is a comprehensive list of Medical Imaging and Sonography courses at our Victorian universities.
