Learning and Teaching

Tuesday Professional Practice Time

Staff have been very involved in the four professional practice sessions that we have run this term.  In the first session, House Group teachers worked on a more consistent approach to the expectations and running of House Group.  The second session was an introduction to a new initiative, implementing Action Research teams.  All teaching staff have nominated an area from the High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) to focus on throughout the year. The third session focused on strategic planning and a discussion about future goals. The Student Wellbeing Team ran the fourth session, looking at visible wellbeing and how it is integral to student learning.  There has been great emphasis on sharing learning and how it benefits and impacts student learning.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Years 7 to 12 Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, 15 March and Wednesday, 21 March between 4.00pm and 7.30pm in the Latingata Morrom Gym.  Parents will receive an email when online bookings are available, as well as instructions on how to download and print the Interim Report.  The Interim Report, as shown in the Learning and Teaching parent letter from 5 February 2018, will provide information regarding the subject, classroom learning indicators and number of days absent.

As Parent/Teacher Conferences are an important opportunity to develop a working and supportive relationship between subject teachers, parents and students, we believe that it is essential that the student attend. This allows the student to share their learning experience and participate in the conversation about their subject expectations.

Activities Week

Years 7 to 12 Activities week will occur from 27 March to 29 March 2018.  This program is well planned and supports the learning and wellbeing of our students.  We ask for your support in student attendance.  Year 7 students will attend their three day camp, Years 8, 10 and 11 students will be involved in a variety of activities run from the College, and Year 12 students will be on their retreat.  Please note, the Year 9 Siena in the City program is a four day program, commencing on Monday, 26 March and concluding on Thursday, 29 March.  Parents will receive individual year level notices in the following weeks.
