Victorian School Music Festival – Concert Band

On 29 July our Concert Band participated in the Victorian School Music festival where they performed two contrasting pieces, listened to other school bands and took part in an onstage masterclass. Concert band performed very well and were awarded a Gold Shield for their performance. Congratulations to Dr Burke and the students involved.

Music Camp

On Saturday, 3 August, over eighty music students from our junior and intermediate ensembles travelled to Rutherford Park Country Retreat. It may have been a very cold weekend, but our students were kept busy participating in ensemble rehearsals and sectionals for Junior Choir, Junior Band, Concert Band, Junior Strings, St Cecilia Strings and Groove Train in preparation for the Annual Concert and Victorian School Music Festival. We are always delighted with how much our students learn, the confidence they gain and the friendships they develop on music camp and once again we weren’t disappointed.

Music Tour to St Mary’s College, Adelaide

Recently seven music students and three staff from Siena College were delighted to visit St Mary’s College, another Dominican Education associated school in Adelaide. St Mary’s staff and students made us feel so welcome and our students enjoyed attending classes, participating in rehearsals and social activities and being billeted by St Mary’s families. It was lovely to see all the students making connections and getting excited about the 150th anniversary event Story, Music and Memory held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on the Saturday evening. For staff and students, it was so significant to be included in this event and to learn so much about the history of St Mary's. We look forward to continuing to build the relationship between the two schools and look forward to hosting St Mary's again in the near future.
